The King Hussein Foundation(KHF) was established by Royal Decree in 1999 to serve as an enduring commitment to His Majesty King Hussein's humanitarian vision and legacy.
Our mission is to build upon King Hussein's lifelong commitment to peace, sustainable community development and cross-cultural understanding through national and regional programs that promote education and leadership, economic empowerment and participatory decision-making.
Our focus on the Arab and Muslim world reflects our commitment to addressing a human development crisis of significant importance: one in five Arabs lives on less than $2 a day; 58 million Arab adults are illiterate - almost two-thirds of them women, and 6.5 million children have no schooling at all. The influence of KHF and its institutions reaches beyond Jordan. Starting with grassroots communities in the Kingdom, and exporting our most successful models throughout the region, we have built a reputation for creating effective and sustainable programs and institutions.
KHF encompasses the Noor Al Hussein Foundation, created in 1985 to facilitate lasting change in underprivileged communities by creating economic opportunities, building capacity for self-reliance and improving the overall quality of life. View KHF's organizational structure.
For almost a decade, the King Hussein Foundation has been improving lives by creating opportunities for some of the most disadvantaged people in Jordan and the Middle East. Learn about our history.
