Amman, Ras Al-Ain – Under the patronage of the Mayor of Greater Amman Municipality, Dr. Yousef Al-Shawarbeh, the National Music Conservatory (NMC) has officially reopened its halls following an extensive renovation. This significant milestone reaffirms NMC’s vital role in music education, talent development, and concert performances in Jordan since its founding in 1986.
The reopening ceremony showcased a variety of musical performances, highlighting the breadth of NMC’s professional music education programs. Attendees were treated to a piano recital of Preludes in C-sharp Minor by Sergei Rachmaninoff, performed by preparatory student Ramez Al-Fanek, followed by Nassam Alayna Al-Hawa by Fairuz, presented by students from the Nazik Al-Hariri Center for Special Education. BA graduate vocalist and music therapist, Sara Nuseibah, then performed Habibi by Majida El Roumi, accompanied by members of the National Music Conservatory Orchestra — a group comprising teachers, graduates, and current students. Renowned oud composer and virtuoso, Tarek Al-Jundi, an NMC scholarship graduate, delighted the audience with his interpretation of Theme and Variation on the Jordanian Folk Song, Reedaha. The event concluded with a vibrant performance of Astor Piazzolla’s Libertango by the orchestra.
Following the performances, guests were invited on a guided tour of the newly renovated conservatory, which offers a safe, healthy, and creative environment for more than 200 students enrolled in preparatory, higher education, and diploma programs. These programs are accredited by leading Jordanian universities and the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM, UK), underscoring NMC’s dedication to cultivating Jordan’s musical talent and fostering artistic excellence.
